It is released as shareware, which provides the opportunity for the program to be evaluated before it is purchased. We hope that after you try COBOL*Express you will like it so much that you will want to register. COBOL*Express may be registered through CompuServe using Registration ID 1517. By ordering COBOL*Express, you will receive a manual, Hypertext COBOL reference facility, customer support, additional COBOL dialects including MicroFocus, VAX/VMS, IBM Cobol II, UNISYS, ANSI-74 and customizable ANSI-85 COBOL. An order form file is provided called ORDER.TXT or you can simply call (800) 768-9657 ext.300 . Tech tip ======== Please note: If many items are highlighted in RED and the Unidentified Pick Windows has many entries... Some VAX/VMS shops use terminal format instead of standard format. COBOL*Express supports both format types. Terminal format allows coding to begin in column "1". If your shop follows this standard, be sure to select "TERMINAL format" in Editor Settings under Options or select TERMINAL format during Import. If the wrong format is selected, the Unidentified Pick window could contain many entries. Sharing Help Libraries - Network support ======================================== COBOL*Express can be setup to share the COBOL*Express and COBOL reference help libraries in Pathworks, Novell, or other network products. This allows a single copy of help to be shared by multiple COBOL*Express users. To install the help libraries on a network device, enter the network device and directory on the first install screen, then select "Custom Install". Next, highlight "Help files" and select Continue. Other users of COBOL*Express can then access these shared files by Selecting "Set Help Files Location..." under the COBOL*Express Help menu and providing disk and path information. Muliple dialect/compiler support ================================ ANSI-85 is based on the ANSI X3.23-1985 as published by American National Standard Institute, New York, N.Y. This standard was fully adopted by ISO International Standard for worldwide standards. The default dialect can be selected in Editor Settings under the Options menu. Selection of "None" allows files of any type to be imported into COBOL*Express. For example: Modifying DCL, JCL, or batch files. Enhanced bookmarks ================== A new feature now supports named and documented bookmarks. Access to this feature is provided under the Bookmark menu using the options Insert&Annotate and View/Modify Bookmarks. Upgrades and Enhancements ========================= Giraffe Systems has additional dialects, local and remote compiler support, and hypertext Cobol reference manuals available which work in conjunction with COBOL*Express. Please call our Sales office at 800-768-9657 ext. 300 for information concerning these upgrades.
